Well, it turns out the formerly rare Parrotlets just aren't so rare anymore. Seems like every Petco in the valley has one...though no other pet store has them, oddly enough. Most of the Petcos have a blue one, including my own store. But blue is $369 or so and I don't find it nearly as attractive---I'm not willing to pay that much for an untamed bird whose color I don't even like as much. But I found one that had another female green Pacific Parrotlet and went and got her after work. I think the total was about $162, with my 20% Petco discount.

I'll be finding out her hatchdate and more information on Monday when their bird lady is working. She's not a baby baby---she's in her first molt, so she looks just awful right now. But she seems to have taken an immediate liking to me. The manager on duty who helped me while I was there had me fish her out of her cage since he couldn't get her, and she didn't make me chase her much. Apparently, she's bitten most of the employees at that store, but she hasn't bitten me so much as once. She and I get along great.

Also getting along great with the new lovebird---he's a pretty good little bird for a parent-raised. Went through the finger of one of the store employees with a good, hard bite---but he's fascinated with me and has not bitten me once. I get along great with him, too. I'm thinking of calling him Bailey.
